School Year Calendar 2022-23

The 2022-23 School Year Calendar was presented to the board and will be submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval.

Student Trustee Report

Trustees received the Student Trustee Report that included:

“Students are very glad to be back in a semester system and find the workload more balanced between all classes.  The cafeterias are beginning to open and allowing more students to sit at tables.  The consensus of the group was that the students who had never experienced semesters are adjusting well and things are going smoothly.

The Student Senate is preparing to distribute Student Trustee Election packages.  The date of the Student Trustee election is scheduled for Thursday, April 28th.  The Student Senate will also take note of Black History Month activities in the schools and report back to the Board.

For Black History Month, Assumption College School is playing music from Black artists and incorporating black history facts into morning announcements. The school is proud to announce that the student council successfully sold 823 Spirit Wear items.  The student council was very organized, packed each person’s spirit wear individually, and smoothly delivered the items.  The school also ran a successful fundraiser for a student who had their wheelchair was stolen and raised over $2,000.

For Black History Month, Holy Trinity is hosting trivia every Tuesday and Thursday on the announcements highlighting Black figures, modern and historic.  For Valentine’s Day, the school handed out candy to each classroom.  The school is planning a March Break spirit week and will run promotions for Pink Shirt Day.

St. John’s College School ran a Valentine’s Day Matchmaker fundraiser for $2 per student.  For Black History Month, the school displayed QR codes that link to an educational website.  Students also sent virtual Valentine’s Day cards to residents at St. Joseph’s nursing home. Students will be participating in Random Acts of Kindness Day.”
